Preaching in the Ability to See series on the Nkwagye Kwan radio program, Dr Kuuku Dadzie Ephraim said the personalities mentioned in the Bible were real historical figures, pointing to the Herods who ruled in Israel and whose reigns, he said, are also documented by historian Josephus.

He highlighted Herod Archelaus in Matthew 2, Herod Antipas in Matthew 14 and Luke 23, Herod Agrippa I in Acts 12, and Herod Agrippa II in Acts 25–26, linking each to events recorded in the New Testament.

Dr Kuuku Dadzie Ephraim also cited Pontius Pilate, who governed Judea and presided over Jesus’ trial in Matthew 27, Mark 15, Luke 23 and John 18, alongside Roman emperors including Augustus Caesar in Luke 2, Tiberius Caesar in Luke 3:1, Claudius Caesar in Acts 18:2 and Nero in Acts 25:11.

He argued that the appearance of these kings, governors and Roman emperors in both biblical accounts and Roman history supports his position that the Scriptures are historically authentic.

Dr Kuuku Dadzie Ephraim questioned what people reject when they say they do not believe the Bible, noting that its accounts mention recognizable countries, cities, rulers and historical personalities, including Jerusalem, Egypt, Jordan and Lebanon.

He concluded that disputing the Bible’s authenticity without examining its historical references amounted to a baseless argument, maintaining that such questions can only be discussed within myopic mindsets and not before intellectuals.
