Preaching in the Ability to See series on the Nkwagye Kwan radio program, Dr Kuuku Dadzie Ephraim stated that the Bible was translated, not altered, stressing that translation and alteration are not the same thing. He explained that God’s servants recorded the Old Testament in Hebrew, while the apostles and Luke wrote the Gospels in Greek and then it was gradually translated into English for people to read it.
He noted that in the latter part of the Western Roman Empire in the 4th century, the Bible was held in very high esteem because church and state were fused and monarchs used it as their legitimate authority and the foundation for their governance.
According to Dr Kuuku Dadzie, translating the Bible without institutional permission was a felony, seen as a threat to the state, and punishable by death. He reasoned that if translators were executed, anyone who altered the state-approved Bible would have faced the same fate, so alteration was not possible.
He pointed out that the Bible’s importance continues today, as some presidents and heads of state are sworn in with it and witnesses in law courts swear on it. He added that biblical principles continue to influence laws and public morality, even in societies where church and state operate separately.
Dr Kuuku Dadzie further described the Bible as the foundation for a good moral life, without which there would be lawlessness and chaos. He lamented that academia often treats it as trivial or unreliable, with scholars turning to philosophical books and theories instead, even though he said the Bible gives wisdom and an understanding of life.
He declared that the stories in the Bible, including God’s dealings with Israel, the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the ministries of the apostles and the end-time prophecies, remain unaltered and went on to urge people not to heed the demonic deception about the Bible but to realize that God’s power is evident in how the Bible has remained intact despite fires and plane crashes.
