Preaching in the Ability to See series on the Nkwagye Kwan radio program, Dr Kuuku Dadzie Ephraim challenged traditionalists who believe in ancestral worship and reject the Bible claiming it was brought by the white man to deceive black people.

He argued that the ancestors were deceived by evil spirits who posed as gods. According to him, God does not require human beings to offer blood sacrifices for their sins, as Jesus Christ’s sacrifice provides salvation for humanity.

Dr Kuuku Dadzie compared continued ancestral worship to a person living in a jungle who refuses a rich man’s invitation to live in his castle in the city. He said such worshippers cling to spirits that will ultimately destroy them while turning down the life God offers.

He also pointed to what he sees as inconsistencies in the “white man’s deception” claim whereby such people go to school, speak English, bear English names, live like the white man, and may even pour libation with the white man’s schnapps. He described such people as hypocrites if they still go to church or live in Europe or America.

Dr Kuuku Dadzie added that the Bible could not reasonably be considered deceptive to Africans when Western nations had embraced it and their descendants continue to benefit from its teachings. He attributed resistance to biblical Christianity to evil spirits who sought to prevent people from knowing and worshipping the true God.

He concluded that if the forefathers had received the Bible and lived by God’s word, the God who blessed the white people would have blessed black people too, and the ancestors would have enjoyed the very things people enjoy today.
