RB Leipzig managing director Marcel Schafer has cast fresh doubt over Yan Diomande‘s proposed transfer to Real Madrid, insisting the deal is far from complete despite widespread reports suggesting otherwise.
The clarification comes after renowned transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano gave the move his trademark “Here We Go” confirmation, indicating that Real Madrid and RB Leipzig had reached an agreement for the highly rated Ivorian winger.
However, Schafer has firmly rejected those claims, stating that negotiations have not reached the stage being reported.
“It is clear that some so-called transfer experts claimed a few days ago that the deal was done or announced a ‘Here We Go’. That is simply not true. We are not at that stage yet,” Schafer said.
His remarks contradict reports that Real Madrid had agreed a deal worth more than €100 million for the 19-year-old attacker, who has become one of Europe’s hottest young prospects.
Diomande enjoyed a standout campaign with Leipzig, scoring 13 goals and providing eight assists in 33 appearances to attract interest from several top European clubs.
Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool were among the teams linked with the winger before Real Madrid reportedly emerged as favourites to secure his signature.
Speculation over his future intensified after he was left out of Leipzig’s squad for a recent pre-season friendly, prompting reports that his departure was imminent.
Despite Schafer’s comments, Real Madrid are still believed to be keen on signing Diomande, with discussions between the two clubs expected to continue as both sides seek to reach an agreement.
