Preaching in the Ability to See series on the Nkwagye Kwan radio program, Dr Kuuku Dadzie Ephraim urged people to consider the harmful effects of alcohol and abstain from it, describing God’s word on alcohol as a warning meant to prevent destruction.
He said God should be the inspiration of human life, encouraging believers to worship the Lord Jesus and allow the Holy Spirit to fill them rather than living under the influence of alcohol.
According to Dr Kuuku Dadzie, alcohol has destroyed the lives and wellbeing of people from all walks of life, including leaders, the rich and poor, men and women, with some becoming completely dependent on it in every situation – morning, afternoon and night regardless of whether they are happy or sorrowful, treating it as their food and livelihood.
Referring to Haggai 1:6, he cautioned against twisting Bible passages to justify drinking, arguing that alcohol produces a reaction in the body and so claims about drinking without intoxication misrepresent God’s word.
Dr Kuuku Dadzie also strongly criticized preachers who tell their followers that there is nothing wrong with consuming alcohol, calling them as drunkards who are serving demons and pointing out that the genuine servant of God would not encourage practices he believes can lead people toward destruction.
He therefore advised people to reject every excuse for alcohol consumption, embrace God’s warning about its dangers and abstain from it to protect their lives from what he described as spiritual and personal destruction.
