Ghana goalkeeper Benjamin Asare has been ranked the sixth-best goalkeeper at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in FIFA’s latest power rankings, following a string of impressive performances for the Black Stars.

The Hearts of Oak shot-stopper received a rating of 7.61, placing him among the tournament’s top-performing goalkeepers after the conclusion of the group stage.

Asare had previously occupied fifth place in the rankings before Portugal goalkeeper Diogo Costa moved ahead following an outstanding display in his country’s Round of 32 victory over Colombia.

According to FIFA’s latest rankings, Paraguay’s Orlando Gill leads the list with a rating of 8.10, followed by Switzerland’s Gregor Kobel (8.05) and Iran’s Alireza Beiranvand (7.81).

Asare has been one of Ghana’s standout performers throughout the tournament, making several crucial saves to help the Black Stars reach the knockout stage.

The 33-year-old kept a clean sheet in Ghana’s 1-0 victory over Panama in the opening group match before delivering another assured performance in the goalless draw against England, where he denied several dangerous attempts.

Although Ghana suffered a 2-1 defeat to Croatia in their final Group L fixture, Asare once again impressed with a number of important saves that kept the Black Stars in contention until the closing stages.

His consistent performances have earned widespread praise and reinforced his reputation as one of the tournament’s most reliable goalkeepers.

Asare is expected to play a key role again when Ghana take on Colombia in the Round of 32, with the Black Stars hoping to continue their impressive World Cup campaign.
