Black Stars midfielder Kwasi Sibo has addressed actor Yaw Dabo’s claim over a Jude Bellingham jersey, saying the shirt was obtained through a mutual agreement between him and the England midfielder.
Sibo explained that the two players spoke briefly during Ghana’s goalless draw with England at the 2026 FIFA World Cup and agreed to exchange jerseys after the match.
According to him, Bellingham kept his word once the game ended and the two exchanged shirts.
Sibo said the moment was particularly meaningful because of his admiration for the Real Madrid star, adding that their shared connection to Spain’s La Liga has also allowed them to interact occasionally in Spanish.
“It means a lot because I think he is a great guy and a great footballer. We both play in Spain’s La Liga, so sometimes we have a little chat in Spanish. I told him, and he said after the game we would exchange jerseys. I wished him good luck and was happy for him winning the Man of the Match Award,” Sibo told the media after the game.
His explanation comes after Yaw Dabo publicly accused him of keeping a Bellingham jersey that was supposed to be handed to the actor.
Dabo said he had asked Black Stars players and officials to help him obtain Bellingham’s shirt after the World Cup match in Boston. He claimed Bellingham had agreed to give him the jersey and that Sibo offered to collect it on his behalf.
The actor later became suspicious after seeing Sibo wearing a Bellingham shirt in a social media post.
Dabo subsequently called on Sibo to return what he described as his jersey, insisting that several players and officials could confirm his version of events.
Sibo’s account, however, presents a different version of how he obtained the shirt, saying the jersey was the result of a direct agreement between himself and Bellingham.
The differing accounts have since sparked a public debate over the ownership of the jersey and what happened after the Ghana-England encounter.
