New Patriotic Party (NPP) activist Kweku Osei Korankyi Asiedu, popularly known as KOKA, has been granted GH¢50,000 bail after being questioned by police over a viral video.
KOKA is being investigated for alleged offensive conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace, according to his lawyer.
As part of the bail conditions, he is required to report to the Greater Accra Regional Police Command on Friday, May 29, 2026, while investigations continue.
The police probe follows a widely circulated video in which the activist was alleged to have threatened a police officer during a heated argument.
However, KOKA’s lawyer, Enoch Afoakwa, denied the allegations and explained that the comments in the video were not directed at the Ghana Police Service.
According to him, the remarks were aimed at a member of the NPP’s internal security team who is popularly known by the nickname “Police” or “Boryor.”
Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM, the lawyer said the situation had been misunderstood because of the nickname used in the conversation.
“The person involved is part of the party’s internal security structure. The reference was to a nickname and not the Ghana Police Service,” Afoakwa said.
He further described the exchange in the video as a friendly interaction between political associates rather than a threat against law enforcement officers.
Afoakwa also stated that KOKA voluntarily honoured the police invitation and fully cooperated with investigators during questioning.
“He respects the Ghana Police Service and would never threaten any officer,” the lawyer added.
