The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has dismissed reports circulating on social media alleging that Dominic Bonsu Ventures made away with GH¢200 million belonging to the Board, describing the claims as completely false and misleading.

In a statement issued on Monday, August 3, 2026, GoldBod said the viral publication was “entirely false, malicious and deliberately intended to mislead the public.”

The Board also rejected claims that Dominic Bonsu, owner of Dominic Bonsu Ventures, previously served as a bodyguard or personal security officer to GoldBod Chief Executive Officer Sammy Gyamfi, insisting that no such relationship has ever existed.

GoldBod further denied allegations that it had entrusted GH¢200 million, or any amount of money, to Dominic Bonsu or his company.

According to the Board, Dominic Bonsu Ventures had its licence suspended after investigations uncovered suspected breaches of its licence conditions and violations of GoldBod’s trading directives, in accordance with the Ghana Gold Board Act, 2025 (Act 1140).

The statement explained that following enforcement actions, Dominic Bonsu was arrested and remanded into lawful custody by the High Court in Accra, where legal proceedings against him are currently ongoing.

GoldBod expressed concern over what it described as attempts to misrepresent the ongoing case and undermine public confidence in the institution.

“The publication is entirely false, malicious and deliberately intended to mislead the public,” the Board stressed.

It urged the public to disregard the viral claims and rely only on information released through its official communication channels.

The Board also appealed to journalists, bloggers and social media users to verify information before publishing or sharing it, stressing the need for responsible reporting.

GoldBod reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing Ghana’s gold trading laws professionally, fairly and without fear or favour, while assuring the public that it remains focused on maintaining integrity and transparency within the country’s gold sector.
