A lecturer has been killed in a suspected armed robbery attack after unknown assailants allegedly stabbed him to death and fled with about GH¢30,000 at Maame Krobo in the Afram Plains South District.

The victim, identified as Eric Blankson, was also a storekeeper at the Amankwa Fisheries Agriculture Technical Institute (AFATI) in the Afram Plains North District. He had returned to Maame Krobo to spend the weekend when the incident occurred.

According to his brother, the two were together at Blankson’s Mobile Money (MoMo) shop before the attack. As heavy rain fell and a power outage hit the area, Blankson decided to leave the shop and retire to his room, while his brother stayed behind to study.

When he later returned home, he noticed his brother’s sandals outside the room. He also found that the bedroom door had been locked from the outside with a padlock, raising his suspicions.

After forcing the door open, he discovered Blankson lying in a pool of blood with stab wounds.

The lecturer was immediately rushed to a nearby health facility, where he was pronounced dead. His body has since been deposited at the morgue.

The deceased’s brother revealed that Blankson had recently earned a promotion and was preparing to assume a new position at Peki Training College before his life was tragically cut short.

The attackers are reported to have escaped with approximately GH¢30,000.

Police have arrested one suspect in connection with the incident, and investigations are ongoing.
