A 43-year-old man, Scott Law of Waltham Abbey, Essex, has been found guilty of assaulting former Manchester United player Roy Keane in a “gratuitous and senseless act of violence” at the Emirates Stadium in September last year.

Law headbutted Keane, who was working for Sky Sports at the time, as he was walking to broadcast his post-match analysis.

The attack came after Arsenal’s 3-1 win over Manchester United, and Law claimed there had been “banter” between him and Keane throughout the game.

However, the court found Law guilty and handed him a three-year football banning order, 80 hours of unpaid work, and ordered him to pay legal costs and a victim surcharge.

Keane denied allegations that he had sworn at Law and provoked the attack, stating “I said that when I was at work? Disagree.”
