Two pupils have died and about 40 others were injured after a school bus carrying children from Alice Elites Academy was involved in a tragic accident at Assin Homaho in the Central Region.

According to reports, the victims were travelling in a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter bus from Assin Edubiase when the crash occurred on the Assin Homaho road.

The deceased, a boy and a girl, were among more than 40 pupils on board the vehicle at the time of the accident.

Confirming the incident, Central North Regional MTTD Commander, DSP Wonder Lumor, said all injured pupils were rushed to nearby health facilities for emergency treatment.

“A total of 40 affected children were rushed to nearby medical facilities immediately after the crash,” he said.

He added that all the injured children received medical attention and were later discharged to their families.

The heartbreaking incident has thrown the Assin Edubiase community into mourning as relatives, school authorities and residents struggle to come to terms with the loss of the two young pupils.

Police have launched investigations to establish the cause of the accident.
