Residents of Asikuma Enyi-Kpodzi in the Asuogyaman District of the Eastern Region have been left shocked following the killing of a woman allegedly by her husband, a 45-year-old farmer identified as Dodzi Edudzi.
The incident reportedly occurred shortly after the couple returned home from an evening church service, with no immediate sign of any disagreement between them.
According to local reports, a neighbour later saw Edudzi coming out of the couple’s room carrying a knife covered in blood.
Alarmed by what she had seen, the neighbour entered the room and found the woman lying motionless in a pool of blood. Her screams drew the attention of other residents, who quickly gathered at the scene.
The Police were subsequently called and arrived to secure the area and take the victim’s body away.
Reporting on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, journalist Deshyee Opambuor said the exact motive for the killing had not yet been established.
The suspect was arrested by the Police but has reportedly declined to cooperate with investigators or provide a statement about the incident.
There are also emerging reports that Edudzi had previously received treatment for a mental health condition, although the circumstances surrounding that claim have not been established.
Police have since opened investigations into the incident to determine what led to the fatal attack.
The victim’s remains have been deposited at a mortuary pending a post-mortem examination as investigators work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
