Popular Ghanaian photography duo TwinsDntBeg questioned the National Democratic Congress (NDC) ‘s policy record, arguing that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has introduced more initiatives that have positively affected ordinary Ghanaians.

The twin photographers made the remarks during an interview with Nana Romeo on UTV’s Atuu Show, where they compared the two parties’ records since Ghana returned to constitutional rule in 1992.

According to them, their assessment is based on policies introduced by successive governments and the impact they believe those initiatives have had on the lives of citizens.

“We have observed the activities of the two governments, the NDC and the NPP, since 1992,” they said.

Reflecting on their childhood during the administration of former President John Agyekum Kufuor, the duo highlighted initiatives such as the School Feeding Programme, Metro Mass Transit and the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

They argued that these policies contributed positively to the country’s development and improved access to essential services.

“We remember during the Kufuor era, we were in primary school, the policies he brought. School feeding, the Metro Mass, NHIS and others. We saw how they progressed Ghana,” they stated.

The photographers also praised former President Nana Akufo-Addo’s Free Senior High School (Free SHS) policy, describing it as one of the major interventions introduced by an NPP administration.

They maintained that the full benefits of the education policy would become clearer over time.

“And then President Akufo-Addo came with one of the best policies, the Free SHS policy, which we will see the effects in the long run,” they added.

When asked to compare the performance of the two political parties, TwinsDntBeg said they considered the NPP’s record more impactful than that of the NDC.

“Comparing the two, the NPP has performed way better than the NDC. The NDC, with all their 30-plus years combined they’ve been in power, we haven’t seen any policy they’ve brought that has positively affected the ordinary Ghanaian,” they said.

The NPP governed Ghana from 2001 to 2009 under Kufuor and from 2017 to 2025 under Akufo-Addo.

The NDC, meanwhile, held office from 1993 to 2001 under Jerry John Rawlings and from 2009 to 2017 under John Evans Atta Mills and John Dramani Mahama. Mahama completed Mills’ tenure following his death in 2012 before returning to the presidency in January 2025.

TwinsDntBeg comprises twin photographers Emmanuel and Samuel Appiah Gyan. The duo have photographed several prominent personalities, including former President Akufo-Addo, and have been associated with former Second Lady Samira Bawumia as her official photographers.

Their comments add to ongoing public discussions about the policy records of Ghana’s two major political parties and the impact of their respective administrations on the country.
