Some suspected armed robbers appeared stunned when police played video footage allegedly showing them taking part in robbery operations during a press briefing at the National Police Headquarters.
The suspects were among several individuals paraded in handcuffs before journalists during the briefing led by the Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, on September 7, 2026.
As the footage was shown on screens inside the venue, some of the suspects could be seen watching closely and appearing visibly surprised by what they were seeing.
The moment quickly drew attention as the alleged suspects watched videos that police said captured their involvement in robbery operations.
The footage was presented as part of a wider briefing on recent police operations and breakthroughs against armed robbery and other violent crimes across the country.
The police also displayed several weapons allegedly recovered during operations against the suspected criminals, including sophisticated firearms and other items believed to have been used in criminal activities.
Addressing the media, IGP Christian Tetteh Yohuno warned armed robbers and other criminals that the police would continue to pursue them and bring them before the law.
He urged those involved in violent crime to abandon their activities, stressing that attempts to evade the police would not guarantee their freedom.
The briefing highlighted the police service’s ongoing efforts to use intelligence-led operations, surveillance and other investigative methods to identify and apprehend suspected criminals.
The suspects remain allegations at this stage, and their appearance at the police briefing does not by itself establish guilt. Their cases will be subject to due legal process.
