Ghanaian lawyer and arbitration expert Nania Owusu-Ankomah has been appointed Vice President of the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), one of the world’s leading international arbitration bodies.
Her appointment was announced in a statement shared on social media by Bentsi-Enchill, Letsa & Ankomah on May 18, 2026.
According to the statement, Owusu-Ankomah previously served as a member of the LCIA Court before her elevation to the vice presidency.
The statement quoted LCIA Director General, Kevin Nash, as praising her contribution to the institution and the international arbitration community.
“Having previously served as a Court Member, this appointment reflects her outstanding dedication, leadership, and significant contributions to the LCIA and the international arbitration community,” the statement noted.
Kevin Nash added, “Nania has already made a real contribution to the LCIA’s leadership through her work on the Court and with the African Users’ Council, and her appointment as Vice President properly recognises that.”
Owusu-Ankomah is a Partner in the Disputes Practice Group at Bentsi-Enchill, Letsa & Ankomah and is widely recognised for her expertise in litigation and cross-border arbitration disputes.
She regularly acts as counsel and arbitrator in international and domestic arbitration proceedings. She has served as sole arbitrator and co-arbitrator in cases handled by the LCIA, the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), and the Ghana Arbitration Centre.
Her clients include major multinational companies such as Tullow Oil, AngloGold Ashanti, Stanbic Bank Ghana, and American Tower Corporation.
Beyond private legal practice, Owusu-Ankomah currently serves as President of the LCIA African Users’ Council and Chair of the Ghana Chapter of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK).
She also lectures in Alternative Dispute Resolution at the Ghana School of Law and is called to the Bar in both Ghana and England and Wales.
Owusu-Ankomah holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Ghana, a law degree and an LLM from the University of Leeds, and a Qualifying Certificate in Law from the Ghana School of Law.
