A man believed to be a driver has sparked attention on social media after a video emerged showing him allegedly slapping a police officer during a heated roadside confrontation.
The officer is reportedly attached to the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service.
In the viral footage, the two men can be seen engaged in a heated exchange before the confrontation becomes physical.
The driver appears to lose his temper and allegedly slaps the officer, who then retaliates, leading to a brief scuffle between them.
Before the alleged slap, the driver was heard warning the officers that he would not surrender his vehicle.
“If I don’t take care, I won’t leave the car for you guys,” he was heard saying.
Several passersby subsequently intervened and attempted to separate the men and prevent the confrontation from escalating further.
The reason for the disagreement remains unclear, and it is not known what initially led to the encounter between the driver and the police officer.
The footage has since generated reactions online, with many users criticising the decision to physically confront a police officer.
A caption accompanying the video described the incident as excessive disrespect, adding that regardless of the circumstances, physically assaulting an officer was unacceptable.
No official statement has yet been provided on the incident or whether any action has been taken against the driver.
