Jude Bellingham has expressed his disappointment following England‘s exit from the 2026 FIFA World Cup, apologising to supporters and admitting he is heartbroken that the team fell short of winning the tournament.

Speaking after England’s elimination, the 23-year-old midfielder said he had dreamed of helping the Three Lions end their long wait for a second World Cup title.

“I wanted to be part of an England team that became world champions,” Bellingham said.

Reflecting on the campaign, he admitted he wished he could have given fans more to celebrate.

“I wish I could have given the fans one or two more wins, but I’m very sad and disappointed,” he said.

Bellingham acknowledged the frustration of having to face supporters after another unsuccessful World Cup campaign, saying it was painful to repeat the same message that England fans have heard for many years.

“I wanted to be part of an England squad that finally got it over the line. To be here telling the fans, unfortunately, the same things that they’ve probably heard for years and years, it’s really gruelling,” he said.

The midfielder also revealed that he was still struggling to come to terms with the defeat and found it difficult to express how he was feeling in the immediate aftermath of the match.

“I wish I could say more. At the moment, my head’s a bit fuzzy with disappointment. So, I’m sorry,” he added.
