The allegations against popular Black Stars supporter Kailani Ibrahim Kpa, popularly known as “Powder Man”, have intensified after several alleged victims came forward to disclose the amounts they claim to have paid him.
Nine individuals have reportedly shared their experiences, with the payments collectively running into tens of thousands of dollars.
According to accounts attributed to the alleged victims, the amounts paid in US dollars included $2,000, $9,000, $2,500, $8,500, $8,500, $9,200, $9,000 and $2,100.
Another alleged victim reportedly paid GH¢85,000.
The dollar payments alone add up to $50,800, excluding the additional GH¢85,000 allegedly paid by another person.
The victims claim they handed over the money after Kpa allegedly promised to help them secure travel arrangements to countries including the United States, Canada and Nicaragua.
One of the men who spoke about his experience said he made significant personal sacrifices in an attempt to secure the opportunity promised to him.
“I told him my wife was pregnant. I even sold my car to give it to him,” he said.
The allegations have emerged following Kpa’s arrest by the Ghana Police Service’s Documentation and Visa Fraud Unit.
The case has since attracted attention because of the substantial amounts allegedly paid by individuals hoping to travel abroad.
The claims remain allegations, and any criminal liability will have to be established through the ongoing investigation and due legal process.
