Deputy Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Dr Justice Srem-Sai, has revealed that more prosecutions linked to the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) initiative are expected in the coming months, with several cases already at advanced stages.
Speaking on TV3’s Hot Issues on July 26, 2026, Dr Srem-Sai disclosed that prosecutors have identified about 30 cases from the ORAL report that contain sufficient evidence to be pursued in court.
“When we analyse the report, I think we had about 30 cases that we thought were prosecutable,” he said.
According to him, between five and 10 of those cases have progressed significantly and are currently at various stages of prosecution.
“I think we have like between five and 10 now,” he stated.
The Deputy Attorney-General stressed that prosecutorial decisions are based on the strength of available evidence rather than the status, influence or political background of individuals involved.
“We don’t actually focus on which one is big or which one is that. We focus on which one is prosecutable,” he explained.
He further hinted that some notable cases would soon come before the courts, suggesting that investigations under the ORAL initiative are beginning to yield results.
“I can tell you there will be some interesting cases coming soon,” Dr Srem-Sai said.
He assured the public that government would continue pursuing cases identified through ORAL, an initiative established to investigate allegations of corruption, financial loss to the state and the misuse of public resources.
“We are going to continue prosecuting as far as ORAL is concerned; we are going to do it,” he added.
The ORAL initiative forms part of government’s broader efforts to recover state funds and assets allegedly lost through corruption and other financial misconduct. The Deputy AG said only cases supported by strong evidence would be taken forward to ensure successful prosecution.
