Rita Konadu, the TikToker arrested by the Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team (CVET) over alleged offensive and derogatory remarks about President John Dramani Mahama and First Lady Lordina Mahama, has broken her silence following her arrest.
In a video sighted by GhanaWeb on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, the 49-year-old appeared resolute despite being in police custody, declaring her unwavering commitment to her political party.
“The big six fought for their party, so me Mamaone, I will die for my party. God is my witness,” she said.
Her comments drew criticism from some people gathered at the court premises, with voices heard condemning her remarks as she was escorted by police officers under tight security.
Konadu, popularly known as “Mamaone” on TikTok under the handle the_onlymamaone1, was arrested at Juaben in the Ashanti Region before being transported to Accra to assist with investigations and other legal processes.
Her arrest is the latest in a series of cases involving individuals accused of making offensive comments about the President on social media.
Camila Alhassan, who faced similar allegations, was arrested and later appeared before the Accra Circuit Court.
On July 16, 2026, she pleaded guilty to offensive conduct and was sentenced to one year in prison with hard labour.
According to the Ghana Police Service, Alhassan’s TikTok video was considered capable of disturbing public peace and undermining national cohesion, leading to the charges against her.
