A Ghanaian man living in the United Kingdom, identified as Yeboah, has sparked debate on social media after revealing he would gladly return to Ghana if given as little as £10,000.

Yeboah made the remarks during a street interview in which he was asked whether he would accept £200,000 to leave the UK permanently and never return.

Responding to the question, he said the amount was far more than he needed and that he would be willing to relocate to Ghana for a much smaller sum.

“£200,000 is too much. Maybe you can give me £50,000 or even £10,000 and I will go back to Ghana and never return to the UK,” he said in a video shared on X on June 22, 2026.

According to Yeboah, many Africans remain abroad not because they dislike their home countries, but because they lack access to the capital and financial support needed to establish businesses back home.

He argued that while opportunities exist in Africa, limited access to funding often forces people to stay overseas in search of better economic prospects.

“Those who think Africans do not have a vision are mistaken. Africa has a lot of opportunities and investments that can be explored if people have the capital to start. Here in the UK, if I want to go into business, there are institutions that can support me through loans and other financial opportunities. There is no excessive pressure because repayment can be done over time,” he said.

Yeboah added that the lack of similar support systems in many African countries makes it difficult for people to pursue entrepreneurial ambitions.

“But back home, such opportunities are limited and that is why most of us are forced to remain here,” he added.

His comments have generated mixed reactions online, with some users agreeing that access to capital remains a major challenge for many aspiring entrepreneurs in Africa, while others questioned whether a relatively small amount would be enough to build a sustainable future back home.
