Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson has said Ghana is under no pressure to return to the international capital markets despite increasing interest from investors to lend to the country.

Presenting the 2026 Mid-Year Budget Review in Parliament on Thursday, July 23, 2026, Dr Forson stated that improved economic management has restored investor confidence, making Ghana an attractive destination for capital.

According to him, although the financial markets are signalling their readiness to support Ghana, the government will only borrow when it is necessary.

“The market is inviting us back, but I want to assure you that we are not in a hurry,” he told Parliament.

The Finance Minister attributed the renewed investor confidence to what he described as the government’s prudent and disciplined management of the economy.

“The progress Ghana is recording today did not happen by chance. It is superior economic management,” he said.

Dr Forson also noted that Ghana’s improving macroeconomic outlook has boosted the country’s appeal to investors. At the same time, the reduction of the policy rate to 14 percent in July is expected to encourage private-sector growth.

According to him, the lower interest rate environment will make it easier for businesses to access financing and expand their operations.

“A lower policy rate is creating room for investors to expand,” the Finance Minister added.

His remarks formed part of the government’s update on the economy during the presentation of the 2026 Mid-Year Budget Review, which outlined Ghana’s fiscal performance and economic outlook for the remainder of the year.
