A group of businesswomen is appealing to President John Dramani Mahama, the Attorney General and the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) to intervene after a court dismissed a fraud case in which they claim to have lost more than GH¢13 million.
The women allege they handed over the money to a man who presented himself as an import agent and promised to help them bring goods into the country.
In a video on August 6, 2026, a spokesperson for the group said the dismissal of the case has left the victims devastated and seeking urgent intervention from the authorities.
“The man introduced himself as an agent, and we gave him GH¢13 million to import some items for us,” she said.
According to the group, they reported the matter to the police in March 2024, leading to the arrest of the suspect, who was subsequently granted bail.
They explained that the case went through several adjournments before it was eventually dismissed, a development they described as deeply troubling.
“The case is before the court, the suspect was arrested in March 2024 and he was granted bail. The case was adjourned several times and eventually it has been dismissed,” the spokesperson stated.
The women said they have patiently waited for justice but believe the legal process has stalled.
“We know the wheel of justice grinds slow, but this one has been extremely slow. This one, it is not moving at all. This one, it has stopped,” she lamented.
The victims are now calling on President Mahama, the Attorney General and the Ghana Police Service to intervene, revive the case and ensure justice is served in what they describe as a painful and long-running ordeal.
