Ghana have climbed eight places in the latest FIFA World Rankings following an encouraging campaign at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Black Stars are now ranked 65th in the world, recording the second-biggest improvement in the latest rankings behind Norway, who gained 12 places.
The rise comes on the back of Ghana’s impressive performances at the World Cup, where the team progressed from a difficult group featuring England, Croatia and Panama before suffering a narrow defeat to Colombia in the Round of 32.
The latest rankings also see the Black Stars move up to 14th in Africa, improving their standing on the continent ahead of the qualifiers for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
Under head coach Carlos Queiroz, Ghana earned a victory over Panama, held England to a draw and advanced to the knockout stage as one of the tournament’s best third-placed teams before their World Cup journey came to an end.
The eight-place jump represents Ghana’s biggest improvement in the FIFA World Rankings in recent years and offers further encouragement as the Black Stars begin preparations for their upcoming international fixtures.
