Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has played down discussions about his contract, insisting that his immediate priority is serving Ghana and helping the national team achieve positive results.
The Portuguese coach made the comments at a pre-match press conference, where he was asked about his future with the Black Stars.
Rather than focusing on the length of his contract, Queiroz said his attention was firmly on delivering results and helping the team move forward.
“This stage of my life depends on what I’m able to deliver to the Black Stars. I’m not here to have an engagement of a contract. My contract is to serve the Black Stars, to win games and make it right for the team,” he said.
Queiroz said he would be prepared to remain in charge for as long as Ghana’s football authorities are satisfied with his work.
He stressed that the duration of his time with the national team would ultimately depend on the assessment of the country’s football authorities and the results he delivers.
“If Ghana football is happy with me, it’s not two, three, four years; it is 10 years. But if Ghana football is not happy with me, I keep going, happy with Black Stars and Ghana. I keep going, supporting Black Stars,” he added.
The experienced coach also acknowledged that Ghana could decide to appoint another coach if the football authorities believe a change would serve the Black Stars better.
“If Ghana football talks, we have to choose the best people to come and serve Black Stars. So I’m not here for a contract; I’m here to serve the Black Stars. One day, one year, 10 years, only God knows,” Queiroz said.
His comments underline his focus on the team’s immediate objectives, with the coach making it clear that his commitment is centred on helping the Black Stars rather than securing a specific long-term tenure.
