Preaching in The Ability to See series on the Nkwagye Kwan radio program, Dr. Kuuku Dadzie Ephraim stressed that pastors deserve deep respect as representatives of God, comparing their role to that of ambassadors who are honoured on behalf of their nations. He cited 1 Thessalonians 5:13, which instructs believers to highly esteem God’s servants who labour over them in the Lord.
He criticised the growing trend of people claiming pastors seek to control their lives, describing such views as rooted in ignorance of God’s structure and order. According to him, true believers understand that God places His people under the care and guidance of a pastor so anyone who speaks otherwise is a rebellious person who doesn’t want to be under authority.
Dr Kuuku Dadzie drew a comparison with biblical history to show that the Israelites did not journey to the Promised Land on their own but were led by Moses. Likewise, he said, Lord Jesus established the church with pastors as shepherds of His people.
He acknowledged that some pastors may be fake or incompetent, but insisted that the existence of evil people who have made themselves pastors to dupe people does not negate the role of a pastor, drawing the analogy that if some teachers are bad it does not mean having a teacher is bad. He urged believers to pray for guidance to be led to a genuine pastor since no one would abandon school over a few bad teachers.
Dr Kuuku Dadzie then stressed that every believer needs a pastor to feed them spiritually with God’s word, watch over their soul, guide them on God’s way of salvation that leads to God as stated in Hebrews 13:17. He further warned that without a pastor, you are more vulnerable to spiritual deception and wrongdoing due to the traps of evil spirits.
He concluded with a stern warning that anyone who claims to worship God but disrespects the pastor is a liar and a rebellious person, and in God’s sight, such a person is a witch or a wizard, since only witchcraft can drive someone to dishonour God’s servant.
