Former Member of Parliament for Anyaa Sowutuom, Dr Dickson Adomako Kissi, has appealed to the media to stop portraying members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as belonging to rival camps following the conclusion of the party’s presidential primary.

Dr Adomako Kissi warned that continued use of “camp” narratives could fuel unnecessary tensions within the party at a critical moment when unity is essential.

He stressed that with the primary concluded, all internal factions have effectively dissolved and the party should now be viewed and presented as a single, united entity. According to him, persistent references to former camps risk distracting the party from its broader goal of reclaiming power.

Dr Adomako Kissi urged journalists and media organisations to exercise restraint in their analysis and framing of post-primary discussions, saying attention should now be directed toward consolidating support for the elected flagbearer rather than reigniting internal competition.

“We need to celebrate the winner and give him all the support he deserves. This victory is a major milestone for the party and marks a new beginning. We must realign and rearrange ourselves to support the winner. Kudos to Dr Mahamudu Bawumia. Our focus now is to win back power in 2028,” he said.

Dr Mahamudu Bawumia emerged victorious in the NPP presidential primary with 110,643 votes, representing 56.48 per cent of the total valid votes cast.

He was followed by Kennedy Ohene Agyapong with 46,554 votes (23.76 per cent), Dr Bryan Acheampong with 36,303 votes (18.53 per cent), Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum with 1,999 votes (1.02 per cent), and Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, who polled 402 votes (0.21 per cent).
