Interior Ministry Declares December 25, 26 and January 1 as Public Holidays

The Ministry of the Interior has announced that Thursday, December 25, and Friday, December 26, 2025, as well as Thursday, January 1, 2026, have been declared statutory public holidays across Ghana.

The declaration was contained in a statement issued by the Ministry on Friday, December 19, 2025, in Accra.

According to the statement, December 25 will be observed as Christmas Day, December 26 as Boxing Day, and January 1, 2026, as New Year’s Day.

The Ministry urged the general public to observe the holidays nationwide in accordance with existing laws.

The announcement, it noted, is in line with the Public Holidays Act and forms part of activities marking the festive season and the start of the new year.
