The Anti-Human Trafficking Unit of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has rescued 110 foreign nationals believed to be victims of a Qnet-related scam in Kuntunse Satellite, located in the Greater Accra Region.
The individuals, mostly from Cameroon and Côte d’Ivoire, were reportedly lured into Ghana with false promises of high-paying jobs. Instead, they were subjected to exploitative conditions under the pretense of network marketing.
The rescue followed weeks of intelligence gathering and surveillance, culminating in an early-morning operation by the police. All victims have been placed in protective custody, while investigations are ongoing to track down the operators behind the scheme.
Preliminary reports indicate that the suspects used Qnet, a controversial multi-level marketing company, as a front for human trafficking and fraudulent recruitment, targeting vulnerable individuals across West Africa.
The CID has reiterated its commitment to combating human trafficking and cross-border scam networks, and is urging the public—especially job seekers—to remain vigilant and avoid offers that involve upfront fees or recruitment through unverified channels.
Efforts are currently underway to identify and arrest key members of the syndicate, believed to have operations across multiple regions.
