President John Dramani Mahama has revealed that more than 200 corruption-related cases are currently under investigation and prosecution, as part of his government’s renewed crackdown on graft and financial misconduct.
President Mahama highlighted Operation Recover the Loot—a nationwide initiative focused on recovering stolen public funds and ensuring accountability.
“Over 200 cases are under active investigation, with around 80 individuals already questioned. Several prosecutions have commenced and are progressing steadily,” he stated.
Among the high-profile cases mentioned were:
- The Republic vs. Adu Boahen and Three Others
- The SkyTrain project case, which now has a confirmed trial date
- The National Service Authority case, with charges ready to be filed once the new legal year begins
On the National Cathedral project, a subject of public scrutiny, Mahama noted that government action would follow after receiving a forensic audit report from the Auditor-General.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to due process, insisting that adherence to the rule of law should not be misconstrued as inaction.
“Yes, our insistence on doing things the right way may afford some temporary relief to those who have looted this country, but let me be clear — it will not grant them a permanent escape,” Mahama asserted.
The President emphasized that every case supported by credible evidence will be prosecuted “swiftly and firmly,” adding that restoring public trust and integrity in public service remains a top priority for his government.
