Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu has announced that the results of the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) are expected to be released on or before July 31.
Speaking at the Government Accountability Series on the mid-year assessment of Ghana’s education sector at the Presidency in Accra on Monday, the Minister said he had received assurances from the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES) regarding the expected release date.
“I’m reliably informed by the Director-General of GES that on or before July 31, the BECE results may be released,” he said.
According to the Minister, the release of the results will pave the way for the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) to begin.
Iddrisu stressed that the placement exercise would be conducted in an open, transparent and merit-based manner, free from unnecessary interference.
“As I’ve always indicated as Minister, I don’t interfere with the work of assessment institutions of WAEC. It is within their domain,” he said.
He disclosed that the Ministry of Education has begun reviewing the CSSPS process to improve fairness and transparency in school placements.
The Minister explained that the changes are intended to ensure parents and candidates make informed school choices based on their actual examination results.
Under the proposed arrangement, students will select their preferred schools only after the release of their BECE results, allowing them to base their decisions on their grades.
