Ministers and chief executive officers of state institutions could be removed from office or reassigned following an upcoming performance review by the Presidency.

According to a directive from the Office of the President, the assessment will evaluate the performance of ministers and heads of state institutions based on results, service delivery, implementation of government policies, and management of public resources.

“The Presidency will undertake a comprehensive review of the performance of Ministers and Chief Executive Officers,” the statement said.

The directive noted that the outcome of the review will influence decisions on whether officials are retained, reassigned, or affected by future changes within the government.

It added that the findings would inform decisions regarding “retention in office, reassignment of responsibilities, and any future Cabinet or executive restructuring.”

The Presidency also cautioned public officials against participating in private award schemes without prior approval.

According to the directive, ministers and chief executive officers are expected to seek clearance from the Presidency before associating with or accepting recognition from private award organisers.

The review forms part of efforts to assess performance and ensure accountability across government institutions.
