President John Dramani Mahama has announced that Cabinet has directed the Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Dr Dominic Akuritinga Ayine, to draft a State Assets Protection Bill aimed at safeguarding public property.
The President announced at the Ghana Civil Society Forum 2026, held under the theme, “Reimagining Partnerships for Democratic Consolidation and Inclusive Development.“
According to President Mahama, the proposed legislation is intended to prevent any government from arbitrarily disposing of state assets, including lands, buildings, factories and other public properties.
He explained that the bill will establish clear legal guidelines governing the disposal of state assets to ensure that no administration can capriciously sell or transfer public property.
