The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) First Vice Chairman-elect, Kojo Fosu Boadu, popularly known as Kojo “Bamba,” has explained his absence from the first meeting of the party’s newly elected national leadership.
Kojo Bamba said he missed the meeting because he had other engagements that required his attention, dismissing speculation that his absence was linked to tensions within the party’s new leadership.
In a video shared on social media on October 7, 2026, he said he had been informed about the meeting with the party’s flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, but subsequently sought permission to be excused.
“I had other engagements; that was why I couldn’t attend the meeting. I was aware of the meeting because I was informed,” he said.
“I asked for permission from the leadership, and I was permitted. So there is no bad blood between the leadership and me,” he added.
His comments come after his absence from the first engagement of the newly elected national executives sparked speculation on social media about possible disagreements within the party’s new leadership.
Kojo Bamba also addressed claims that he is at odds with the newly elected Second Vice Chairman, Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B.
He rejected the suggestion, describing Nana B as a close associate with whom he has worked for about a decade.
“Some of you are also saying that I have an issue with Nana B. I want you people to know that I don’t have any issue with Nana B. In fact, I have worked with him for about 10 years now, and we haven’t once argued,” he said.
According to Kojo Bamba, he and Nana B temporarily went their separate ways during the NPP’s internal elections because both were focused on their respective campaigns.
He said, however, that their relationship remained intact after the conference.
“Before the delegate conference, we went our separate ways because we were all focused on campaigning, but after the conference, I called him and Nana Akomea… So there is no problem between us,” he added.
Kojo Bamba emerged as the First Vice Chairman-elect after securing 3,116 votes at the NPP’s National Delegate Conference in Kumasi on October 3, 2026.
He finished ahead of Nana B, who polled 3,061 votes, while Nana Akomea placed third with 2,987 votes.
The top three candidates were subsequently selected for the party’s three vice-chairmanship positions.
Kojo Bamba’s explanation is expected to put to rest speculation surrounding his absence as the NPP’s newly elected leadership begins its work following the national conference.
