Nhyiaeso Member of Parliament Dr Stephen Amoah, popularly known as Sticka, has warned that the NDC could face consequences in his constituency if he is arrested without committing an offence.

The former Deputy Finance Minister said he would have no objection to being arrested if authorities had evidence that he had broken the law. However, he warned that an arrest he considers unjustified would trigger a strong response after his release.

Speaking during a panel discussion on OwiaTV on October 3, 2026, Sticka said he would not remain silent if he believed state authorities were using their powers to intimidate him.

“For me, sitting here, if the NDC wants, they should arrest me. If I am arrested after committing an offence, I am okay. But if I don’t commit any offence and I am arrested, after my release, Ghanaians will see what will happen,” he said.

He went further to warn that NDC supporters in his constituency could face the consequences of what he described as an unjustified arrest.

“In my constituency, every NDC member there will leave the place. I swear by the God I serve, if you arrest me for no offence,” he added.

Sticka argued that respect for the rule of law was essential and suggested that failure by authorities to uphold it could provoke reactions beyond the individual case involved.

His comments come amid a series of arrests and investigations involving individuals associated with the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).

One of the cases that has attracted attention is that of Manhyia South MP Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, who has been involved in proceedings initiated by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).

Baffour Awuah has been accused of offences including causing financial loss to the state and money laundering, allegations he has contested.

He was subsequently granted bail by the High Court as the matter continues.

Sticka’s comments reflect the growing political tension surrounding arrests and investigations involving opposition figures, with the NPP and its supporters raising concerns about the manner in which some cases are being handled.

For Sticka, however, the key issue is whether any action taken against him is backed by an identifiable offence and due process.
