The Office of the Attorney-General has filed fresh criminal charges against former Chief Executive Officer of the National Food Buffer Stock Company (NAFCO), Hanan Abdul-Wahab Aludiba, and a second accused person, Faiza Seidu Wuni, over allegations of fraud, theft, abuse of office, and causing financial loss to the state.

The charges, filed at the High Court in Accra on May 15, 2026, allege that the accused were involved in a series of financial irregularities running into millions of cedis during Aludiba’s tenure at the state-owned company.

According to court documents, prosecutors accuse the former NAFCO boss of fraudulently obtaining GH¢734,400 from the company in 2017 through a false rent claim said to cover two years from May 2017 to May 2019.

The Attorney-General’s office further alleges that the rent claim caused direct financial loss to the company.

The most serious allegations concern the diversion of more than GH¢50 million from NAFCO between February 2017 and February 2025.

Prosecutors claim the funds were siphoned under the guise of payments for foodstuff purchases to businessman James Tieku-Apawu, trading as Sawtina Enterprise.

Court filings accuse Aludiba of stealing about GH¢50.8 million through alleged transactions while serving as the company’s CEO.

The Attorney-General also alleges that the former CEO abused his office for personal benefit by authorising the payments under questionable circumstances.

The case, which has begun attracting significant public attention due to the large sums involved and NAFCO’s role in Ghana’s food security system, is expected to proceed before the High Court in Accra.
