Antoine Semenyo has claimed that Chelsea posed a more difficult challenge to Manchester City than Arsenal did earlier this season, despite City’s victory over the Blues in the FA Cup final.
The Ghana forward played a decisive role in Saturday’s final at Wembley Stadium, scoring the winning goal in the second half to hand City a 1-0 triumph.
Semenyo found the net in the 72nd minute after connecting with a square pass from Erling Haaland and finishing calmly past the goalkeeper.
Speaking after the game, the Black Stars attacker admitted Chelsea’s high pressing and relentless attacking style caused City more problems than Arsenal managed in the Carabao Cup final earlier in the campaign.
“I won’t lie, Chelsea gave us a much tougher game than Arsenal did in the Carabao Cup final. Their intensity, the pressure, the way they kept fighting until the end, it was completely different,” he said.
Semenyo added that City struggled to dominate possession at certain stages because Chelsea consistently pushed forward and disrupted their rhythm.
“There were moments today where we genuinely struggled to control the game because Chelsea kept coming at us again and again. They made it difficult for us,” he added.
