National Democratic Congress (NDC) Deputy General Secretary Mustapha Gbande has hit back at Dennis Miracles Aboagye, accusing him of misrepresenting his comments about Kojo Bamba, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) National First Vice Chairman-elect.

Gbande said claims that he had declared Bamba unfit for the position were false, insisting that his remarks had been taken out of context.

Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, the NDC executive maintained that he had never questioned Bamba’s right to occupy the position.

“I have said that nowhere. That is not my style, and that is not how I was trained to conduct,” he stated.

Gbande explained that his comments had focused on the circumstances surrounding Bamba’s election, which he attributed to what he described as protest voting against the conduct of NPP appointees during the party’s eight years in government.

He also raised questions about Bamba’s political background, alleging that he had links to the Invisible Forces group in the Ashanti Region.

The NDC official further alleged that Bamba had led a group involved in an attack on a sitting judge in court. He said these were the issues he had discussed, rather than arguing that the NPP vice chairman-elect did not deserve his new position.

Gbande also addressed remarks attributed to Aboagye, who had allegedly questioned what place he would have had without the NDC.

In response, he defended his record within the party and at the Presidency, arguing that his service had not been tainted by corruption allegations.

“I am proud to say that from the headquarters of the NDC to the Jubilee House where I served the president, none of my bosses can put me on the map of corruption. None,” he said.

He maintained that nobody could point to a record of him engaging in corrupt practices and cited his earlier service as a deputy regional secretary of the NDC as part of his political career.

The exchange comes in the aftermath of the NPP’s recent national executive elections, which ushered in new leadership for the opposition party.

Gbande’s response has added to the political debate surrounding Bamba’s election and the competing claims being made by figures from the NDC and NPP. The allegations raised against Bamba and the accusations exchanged between the political figures remain claims attributed to their respective sources.
