The police have forwarded the case docket involving an alleged rape at Obuasi Senior High Technical School (SHTS) to the Attorney-General’s Office for review and advice, marking another stage in the investigation into allegations against the school’s headmaster, Zakaria Abdulai.

In a press release dated October 16, 2026, the Ashanti South Regional Police Command said its Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU), based in Bekwai, had completed the necessary investigative processes and submitted the docket for consideration.

The case concerns a 20-year-old Form Two student who reported the alleged incident to the Obuasi DOVVSU on August 4, 2026, accompanied by her father.

According to the police, the student alleged that the incident occurred on July 25, 2026, at the headmaster’s official bungalow within the school’s premises.

The police statement said the student had gone to an area near the residence where students dry their clothes to retrieve her dresses when Abdulai allegedly asked her to enter his residence to perform an errand.

The statement further alleged that after she entered the house, the headmaster began touching her against her will. When she resisted, he allegedly dragged her into his bedroom and forcibly had sexual intercourse with her.

Police also said the student alleged that she was given GH¢100 afterwards and told to keep the incident secret.

As part of the investigation, officers conducted a medical examination, reconstructed the alleged scene, took photographs and obtained witness statements.

The police said the completed docket had been forwarded to the Attorney-General’s Office for study and advice on the next steps in the case.

The statement was signed by ASP Lloyd Baidoo of the Ashanti South Regional Police Public Affairs Unit.

The allegations against Abdulai have not been established in court. The Attorney-General’s review is expected to guide the next course of action following the police investigation.
