NPP Canada Branch Organizer Yakubu Alhassan, popularly known as BigMo, has vowed to defend the record of former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia against what he considers unfair criticism.
Alhassan said the party’s response would be centred on facts and Bawumia’s achievements rather than personal attacks or insults.
Speaking in an official statement issued by the NPP Canada Branch, he said the time had come for the party to be more deliberate in communicating Bawumia’s record during his tenure as Vice President.
“Enough is enough. NPP Canada will defend Bawumia. We will defend his record when he was Vice President. We will speak facts, not insults,” Alhassan said.
He also criticised the administration of President John Mahama, accusing the government of failing to deliver on some of the promises made during the 2024 general election.
According to Alhassan, political discussions about Ghana’s development should focus on policies, measurable results and the ability of governments to establish systems capable of delivering sustainable progress.
He described Bawumia as a leader associated with innovation and job creation, while arguing that the NPP’s approach is centred on building systems that can produce lasting results.
“Bawumia is not a talkative. NPP builds systems that work and Bawumia represents innovation and jobs,” he said.
Alhassan’s comments come amid renewed political debate over the record of the previous NPP administration and the performance of the current government.
His remarks signal an intention by the NPP Canada Branch to take a more active role in defending Bawumia’s political record as criticism of his time in government continues to feature prominently in Ghana’s political discourse.
