The 2026 summer transfer window has officially closed, bringing an end to another busy period for Ghanaian footballers seeking new challenges across Europe and beyond.
Several players made notable moves during the window, ranging from major transfers in England and Spain to high-profile switches in Turkey and Saudi Arabia. While some deals involved substantial transfer fees, others stood out because of the profile of the clubs involved.
Here are the five biggest Ghanaian transfer stories from the 2026/27 season.
1. Caleb Yirenkyi, Nordsjælland to Coventry City
Caleb Yirenkyi emerged as the biggest Ghanaian mover of the summer after completing a record-breaking transfer to Coventry City.
The 20-year-old midfielder left Danish club FC Nordsjælland to join the English side in a deal reportedly worth around £26 million, making it a club-record signing for Coventry.
Yirenkyi’s move represents a major step forward in his young career and places him in a stronger position to establish himself in English football.
2. Oscar Naasei, Granada to Real Madrid
Oscar Naasei secured one of the most prestigious moves of the summer by joining Real Madrid from Spanish side Granada.
The 21-year-old centre-back reportedly cost around €2 million and signed a three-year contract with the European giants.
Naasei is expected to begin his time at Real Madrid with Castilla, the club’s reserve team. The move gives the Ghanaian defender the chance to develop within one of the world’s most recognised football academies while adapting further to Spanish football.
3. Kojo Oppong Peprah, Nice to Fenerbahçe
Another Ghanaian defender on the move was Kojo Oppong Peprah, who swapped French Ligue 1 for Turkish football.
The 22-year-old centre-back completed a transfer from Nice to Fenerbahçe, with the deal reportedly valued at around €12 million.
Peprah signed a four-year contract with the Turkish giants, underlining the club’s confidence in his ability to contribute at the highest level.
4. Thomas Partey, Villarreal to Al-Shabab
In terms of reputation and experience, few Ghanaian moves generated as much attention as Thomas Partey’s transfer to Al-Shabab.
