Preaching in the Ability to See series on the Nkwagye Kwan radio program, Dr Kuuku Dadzie Ephraim has described alcohol as another area where worldly people and some churchgoers have rejected what he presented as God’s instruction, arguing that the Creator does not want human beings to fill their bodies with alcohol.

He said God understood the harmful effects of alcohol on the human body and pointed to the Old Covenant, where priests and other people dedicated to God were restricted from consuming it, citing Leviticus 10:8–9.

According to him, the same principle continued in the New Covenant, where Ephesians 5:18 encourages God’s people to be filled with the Spirit rather than alcohol.

He went on to describe alcohol as a destructive influence that causes people to lose self-control and spiritual composure, claiming that it opens the way for demonic influence and affects people’s ability to see situations from the right perspective.

Stating that “Alcohol is a demonic catalyst that makes people sin against God,” Dr Kuuku Dadzie referenced Proverbs 20:1 to stress that wine and strong drink can lead people away from wisdom.

He further warned that people often turn to alcohol as a cover for sorrow, agitation and personal troubles, but maintained that actions committed under its influence come from an uncomposed state that can ultimately lead to destructive behaviour.
