Veteran Ghanaian broadcaster Paul Adom-Otchere has sparked widespread reactions on social media after incorrectly citing a Bible verse during his “Good Evening Ghana” programme.
In a video circulating online on July 23, 2026, the journalist was heard referring to a scripture he identified as Romans 30:31 while making a point during the show.
According to Paul Adom-Otchere, the passage states: “What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?”
However, a fact check revealed that Romans 30:31 does not exist, as the Book of Romans contains only 16 chapters.
The broadcaster is believed to have intended to quote Romans 8:31, a well-known Bible verse that reads: “What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?”
The mistake has since generated significant discussion online, with many social media users reacting to the incorrect reference.
While some criticised the broadcaster for the error, others made light of the situation and questioned how the wrong citation was made during a live television discussion.
Despite the reactions, the message Paul Adom-Otchere was attempting to convey remains the same as the verse found in Romans 8:31, which speaks about faith and confidence in God’s protection.
