A 17-year-old final-year student of Mfantsipim School, identified as Emmanuel Arthur, has reportedly died by suicide, according to the Central Regional Police Command.

The deceased was discovered in an uncompleted building at Ola North in Cape Coast after a carpenter working at the site alerted the police.

Officers who responded to the scene on June 11, 2026, found Emmanuel’s body and commenced investigations.

During a search of the area, police recovered a black backpack containing study materials, including a Geography Paper 1 mock examination paper bearing the student’s name.

Investigators also retrieved two mobile phones, an Android device and a basic handset, along with other personal belongings.

Authorities from Mfantsipim School later confirmed that Emmanuel Arthur was a final-year student preparing for his examinations.

The family of the deceased was subsequently informed, and the body was conveyed to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital for examination.

A pathologist who examined the remains reportedly found the body to be in an advanced state of decomposition before it was released to the family for burial.

The abandoned structure where the body was discovered was later disinfected, while relatives proceeded with funeral arrangements.
