Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, says he is unaware of reports claiming Black Stars midfielder Thomas Partey has been denied a Canadian visa ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Ghana are scheduled to open their World Cup campaign against Panama at Toronto Stadium on June 17, 2026, before returning to the United States for their remaining group matches.
Ahead of the tournament, rumours emerged suggesting that Partey had been refused entry into Canada because of legal issues he is currently facing.
Speaking on Joy News’ PM Express on June 10, 2026, Kofi Adams said he had not been informed of any such development and therefore could not confirm the claims.
“I am not aware that Partey’s visa has been denied. If such a thing had happened, they would have informed me,” he stated.
The minister acknowledged that the midfielder had encountered visa-related difficulties in the past but said those issues were resolved successfully.
“I know he had visa challenges in the past, but those were resolved. The players are ready for the game,” he added.
Ghana are expected to begin their World Cup campaign against Panama in Canada before continuing their Group L fixtures in the United States.
