The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has refuted claims circulating in the media that about 60 per cent of applicants screened for military recruitment tested positive for HIV.

In a press release, Naval Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin, Acting Director General of Public Relations, described the reports as “fake news” and urged the public to disregard them entirely.

The statement clarified that the medical screening process for applicants is still ongoing and that no results have been released at this stage, contrary to the claims being circulated.

“The medical process is ongoing and no results have been declared as at now,” the GAF emphasized.

The Armed Forces added that steps are being taken to identify and hold accountable those responsible for spreading the false reports, describing the publications as misleading and mischievous.

Additionally, the GAF cautioned media practitioners, including bloggers, vloggers, and content creators, to exercise professionalism and verify information before publication.

“The Ghana Armed Forces once again urges media practitioners, especially content creators and bloggers/vloggers, to be circumspect and crosscheck their facts before going to press,” the statement added.
