IMANI Africa Vice President Kofi Bentil has weighed in on the political landscape in the Kpandai Constituency, insisting that no political party can claim the area as an automatic stronghold ahead of the upcoming parliamentary by-election.

Bentil, a legal practitioner and policy analyst, said the context of the rerun has changed significantly and voter behaviour cannot be taken for granted by any party. According to him, the notion that Kpandai is inherently dominated by one party is outdated, and current dynamics suggest a more open contest.

Bentil highlighted that data shows rising support for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the constituency and argued that this shift reflects changing voter sentiments.

He also noted that Matthew Nyindam’s previous victory, though annulled by the courts due to procedural issues, was backed by genuine grassroots support — further challenging the view that Kpandai is a natural “stronghold” for any specific political camp.

He explained that with the transition to an NDC-led government, political calculations have altered, and voters are now evaluating what each party can deliver on governance and development. Bentil said this evolving mood underscores that Kpandai’s electoral fate will depend more on performance and voter priorities than historical partisanship.
