Flagbearer hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, has issued a stern warning to party delegates, cautioning that the NPP could return to opposition after the 2028 general elections if the right candidate is not elected.

Speaking to delegates from Ejura Sekyere, Mampong, Nsuta Kwamang, Afigya Sekyere East, and Kwabre East at Agona on the third day of the second phase of his Ashanti Regional campaign tour, Ing. Agyepong emphasized that the next four years will require hard work and strategic planning to reclaim the confidence of Ghanaians.

“The foundation of the NPP is sacrifice, service, and selflessness. If we are not careful and do not elect the right candidate for the 2028 elections, we risk going to opposition again,” he warned.
Ing. Agyepong called on delegates to make a thoughtful and principled choice, underscoring that leadership within the party must be rooted in integrity, experience, and a genuine commitment to the Ghanaian people.

“The next flagbearer must embody the spirit of service that built this party. It is not about ambition alone; it is about restoring trust, winning back supporters, and ensuring that the NPP remains in power to serve the nation, and I am ready for the responsibility, the challenge, and the duty to lead our party to greater heights,” he stated.

The former NPP General Secretary and Press Secretary to former President John Agyekum Kufuor urged delegates to remember the sacrifices of party members over the years, stressing that his own decades-long service demonstrates his commitment to unity, discipline, and the party’s core values.

“If we choose wisely, the NPP will reclaim its rightful place and continue the legacy of sacrifice and service. The people of Ghana are watching, and we must not let them down,” he added.
His message was met with enthusiastic support from the delegates, many of whom expressed confidence in his vision for the party and urged their colleagues to back him during the January 31, 2026 primaries.
