Suzzy Pinamang, the Ghanaian senior high school student who suffered a life-altering eye injury in a tragic shooting incident, has successfully completed a follow-up medical review in London, confirming significant progress in her recovery.

Between September 10 and 16, 2025, Suzzy returned to the Moorfields Eye Hospital—a world-renowned specialist centre—where she had undergone surgery in early June. The review showed that her healing is on track, with doctors expressing satisfaction at her post-surgical progress. Medical specialists noted improved vision and overall recovery, recommending routine check-ups and continued protective care to ensure sustained healing.

Suzzy was flown to the UK earlier this year for advanced treatment, fully sponsored by businessman and philanthropist Ibrahim Mahama, after a viral video brought public attention to her condition.

Following the successful review, doctors have officially cleared her to return to school, with arrangements already in place to enroll her in a new institution. Her ongoing education and well-being will continue to be fully supported by the Ibrahim Mahama Global Foundation.

Speaking to the media after her review, Suzzy shared her heartfelt gratitude:

“This has not been an easy road, but I thank God for life and for the doctors who have given me hope again. I am also thankful to everyone who stood by me, especially Mr. Ibrahim Mahama—he’s truly God-sent—and to everyone who has supported me with prayers and kindness.”

She also acknowledged the support of the Ghana High Commission in London, as well as Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa and Ambassador-in-situ and Chief of State Protocol Gustav Kwaku Sefe Dovlo, who played key roles in facilitating her treatment abroad.

Suzzy arrived in the UK on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, accompanied by a caregiver and her brother. They were later joined by Rafik Mahama, special aide to Ibrahim Mahama, who coordinated and sponsored the full cost of her travel, treatment, and care.

Suzzy’s story continues to inspire hope, resilience, and the impact of community and philanthropic support.
